ERR ON THE SIDE OF DISCRETION
A basic black suit, khakis, a company-issued uniform, the hottest jeans…The key is to own several quality pieces of the office standard that will get the most wear. Differ them in color, style, fit or cut. For example if dress pants are your staple at the office buy several quality pairs that differ in flair, cut or color.
Stretch your dollar by buying versatile pieces. Much like the articles you see in magazines where they have 5 key pieces and they mix and match them to create a whole week of new looks. Try to accomplish the same goal while shopping for your own outfits. Pick pieces that can mix and mingle well together.
If you're standing on your feet all day buy cute flat cushioned shoes.

Dare to Stand Out
Add personal flair with belts, shoes, handbags, etc Accessories are a great way to show of your individuality. Just remember less is more, sometimes you can drown yourself in too much bling.
Incorporate. Take one or two new trends and incorporate them into your basic work outfits. The key is to only add one or two new hot trends.
Shine those shoes. Yes, shoes need to be comfortable, but invest in comfortable shoes that are also fashionable in style, color, or pattern. Or if you are looking to make a hot presentation take a note from the city girls, wear the comfortable shoes until shoe time and then switch them for a hot pair of heels.
Spend on the bag. Handbag or suitcase put the money into function and style. Invest in two quality bags, one that's cross-color trendy (like denim and leather) and one that is fashionable but travel-smart.
Fine tune. Check to make sure your clothes don't smell like smoke, that there are no stains, no wrinkles, deodorant spots, etc. Always be on the look out for those things that can ruin an outfit through out the day.
For a presentation pick something with color so you won't fade into the background.
