 Which Shape Are You?

There are four basic body types, based on metabolism and where you gain weight. Dress for your shape so that you accent the good parts and conceal those not as good parts.

Dressing For Your Shape

RECTANGLE

HOURGLASS

Description: These are relatively rare, but characterized as well-shaped childlike bodies and small breasts. Rectangles are not necessarily short or petite. Their hands and feet are delicate, with there heads being larger that average by proportion. They tend to have a little “pot-belly” even when they are not overweight. They generally gain weight in their abdomen, thighs and love handles.
Examples of lovely Rectangles: Nancy Reagan and Vanna White
Clothing suggestions: Clothing that tends to be puffed at the hips. They help to add the illusion of more curves. Peplum jackets and knitwear that can be belted are good options too.

Description: These are the most balanced body types with wide shoulders, defined waist and rounded hips. They are also usually fine-boned and they tend to gain weight in the love handles, stomach and things but a small waist remains.
Examples of Lovely Hourglass: Elizabeth Taylor
Clothing Suggestions: If an hourglass is not overweight they can wear just about any style they choose because their shoulders and hips are proportional. Lucky them! The hourglass' best friend should be their tailor, who can accentuate the positive with smart tailoring. For a sleek, sophisticated look wear short skirts with jackets nipped in the waist. Other good choices include long, fitted jackets, unfussy blouses (to prevent a top heavy look), and Straight skirts. For overweight hourglass types they should avoid the belted look, unless covered by a jacket. Without a jacket go for styles that nip in at the waist.

WEDGE

TRIANGLE

Description: This type has broad shoulders, flat rears, straight legs, and a tapered not defined waist. They can also have large rounded breasts. When they gain weight it goes to the stomach, midriff, breasts, and arms while the rear remains flat and her things are slender.
Example of Lovely Wedges: Linda Evan.
Clothing Suggestions: Focus on styles that show of their narrow hips and if possible camouflage a large bust, heavy upper arms and midriff. Lose shirts and sweaters over slim skirts and unbelted chemises are a good choice.

Description: Also known as Pear Shapes, have a lower torso that is usually pronounced, a flat stomach, and a prominent rear that is one to two sizes larger than the top. They tend to gain weight in their rears and thighs, and are prone to saddlebags even though there stomachs remain relatively flat with a small waist.
Example of Lovely Pears: Goldie Hawn
Clothing Suggestions: They should ALWAYS wear structured shoulders to broaden their shoulders and balance their hips. Try to keep the attention on top with detailed shirts and jackets. Another good thing is to draw attention to the tiny waists with belts. For example a long tie sweater, hides thighs and draws attention to the waist. Brighter colors should be worn on top with darker colors on bottom to draw the eye upward. NEVER wear white pants.
