- Collars or jackets should lie at the back of your neck

- Long sleeves should lie just past your wrist bone when arms are hanging at your side. Bracelet sleeves should have jackets that lie one inch above the wrist bone.

- Heels of pants should never hang over the back of shoes. As well they should never rise above the ankle bone when sitting (unless styled to do so).

- Skirt hems should be straight and parallel to the floor at all times

- No skirt (unless used as a Halloween costume) should come be shorter than the tips of your fingers when arms are at your side.

- Knee length skirts should fall a little above the knee or a little below…never at.

- Buy clothes that fit you now, not the size you want to be once your diet kicks in.

- Get clothes fitted but not too tight. You shouldn't have to wiggle your way into them.

- Wear the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear with clothes when buying new clothes or getting them altered.

- Always check fit in a three-way mirror.

Fit Tips

- Sit down in your garments to check for gaping that doesn't occur when standing.

- You should never be able to see undergarments.

Waistbands should be large enough that they don't bind or roll.

Check for seam allowances in the sides, waist, sleeves and hems before purchasing.

- Though I love fashion the cardinal rule is to pick things that are flattering for you…Looking good is always in fashion!

- Double breasted jacket

- Short or long jackets, chosen to fit your body type.

- Slim skirts with no pockets

- Classic plain heels in black, navy, and tan

- Good pair of tailored black pants.

- Of course the simply black dress.

Taking Care of Your Things

- Hang garments outside of the closet for 24 hours after wearing them to let them air out.

- White of cream blouses should be hand washed or dry cleaned to avoid shrinkage.

- Use wooden or padded hangers for jackets and good blouses.

- Too much dry cleaning can harm fabrics. Clean suits when soiled. Get wrinkled suits pressed or invest in a steamer.

- When you send a stained garment to the cleaners try to attach a note with the type of stain as it helps them to get it out with less wear on the garment.
